Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is promoting Markus Ek from vice president global sales to chief executive of SAS Cargo.

Ek, who is filling in as head of the SAS transformation office, will helm the cargo wing from August 1.

“I am very pleased that Markus Ek has accepted the role as CEO of SAS Cargo,” says Kjetil Håbjørg, executive vice president airline services, who said the new cargo chief  “has a long experience of the aviation industry and has a strong track record at SAS”.

“The cargo division played a vital role during the pandemic and has continued to demonstrate resilience through the most difficult times our industry has ever experienced. I very much look forward to this new role and to be part of the SAS Cargo team,” added Ek, who has been with SAS since 2008, working “mainly within purchasing and sales”.
