Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is set to improve the airport infrastructure and services. As a part of the plan MAHB will replace the critical assets like ageing Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) Aerotrain system and baggage handling system in the next two years.

Dato’ Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, Managing Director, MAHB said: “Several operational improvements to achieve enhanced service delivery are being undertaken including ambience improvement, self-service check-in and bag drop, digital solutions and many more. MAHB will be rolling out these initiatives in stages to keep up with the ever-discerning needs of travellers.”

MAHB is also planning several smart initiatives like digital super application with an existing subscriber base of over a billion users.

“Smart initiatives with established players will ensure minimal or no investment requirement from MAHB, hence ensuring maximum returns and more importantly, delivering results of bringing in tourism dollars into Malaysia” commented Mahmood. “MAHB is excited about these transformational initiatives. We are committed in making our airports relevant and playing a pivotal role in contributing towards Malaysia’s growth.”

MAHB recorded an 81.2% passenger recovery as compared to 2019, with international passenger movements at 78.4% of 2019. The airport anticipates positive momentum to continue in 2023 and 2024.
