Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) and Lufthansa Technik Middle East are to collaborate in aircraft component services, the German company has announced.

The collaboration means LT is to help service and maintain Saudia’s 57 Boeing long-haul aircraft by providing component support and help the carrier build up its in-house maintenance capabilities.

“Combining our unique position in one of the fastest growing aviation markets globally – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – with the experience and expertise of a global MRO [maintenance, repair, overhaul) leader such as Lufthansa Technik will create a regional aircraft maintenance powerhouse that is truly commensurate with the strategic ambitions of this sector in the kingdom,” said Fahd H Cynndy, Saudia’s chief executive.

“It is our great pleasure to do our bit in supporting the development of the aviation stream of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030,” said Ziad Al Hazmi, who heads Lufthansa Technik’s Middle East operations
