Glasgow Airport staff threaten to go on strike over pay

By May 9, 2023 No Comments

Over 400 Glasgow Airport workers companies have turned down  “poverty pay” offers by employers at five companies operating at the hub, according to trade union Unite, which said strikes were “inevitable”.

The staff involved in the dispute “undertake various roles including cleaning, airport security, airport fire safety, airfield operations officers, and engineering technicians”, the union said.

“We will now ballot our members, at these five companies based at Glasgow Airport, because our members deserve better,” said Unite’s Sharon Graham.

The workers want salaries to reflect the latest inflation data in the UK, which by some measures hit 13.5% earlier in 2023.
