Dublin Airport is proposing “new sustainability measures to incentivise airlines to operate lower CO₂ emission aircraft”.

The proposed scheme would, see a “low emissions discount” applied to the airport’s aeronautical charges, which it says are “the lowest of any capital city airport in Europe”.

“A new 25% discount off all runway charges will be available to all airlines that operate the most environmentally friendly aircraft at all times of the day,” the airport announced.

Higher charges have been in place since 2022 “for nosier [sic] aircraft which operate at night”, according to a statement by the Dublin Airport Authority (daa).

“At daa, we are embedding environmental sustainability into everything we do. We are acutely aware of the scale of the task of achieving the government’s target of a 51% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions at our airports by 2030, on our way to our ultimate goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” said daa chief executive Kenny Jacobs.
