About Ameco Beijing

Ameco Beijing (Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Corporation) was founded in 1989 as a joint venture between Air China (75%) and Lufthansa Technic (25%). Ameco Beijing specializes in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft, their engines and components. Ameco Beijing’s customers include over 30 Chinese and a further 40 international airlines. The company overhauls the Boeing 737, 747, 767, 777 and Airbus A340 aircraft types. Ameco Beijing has created amongst others the first Airbus A340 8C Check in China, the first Boeing 767 winglet modification, and the first Airbus A380 wing-rib modification.

The company’s service portfolio also includes the overhaul of engine types as Rolls-Royce RB211, Pratt & Whitney PW4000 and CFM International Aero Engines V2500. And the branch of Ameco in Chengdu is the first provider in China which has been authorized by Honeywell Aerospace as a warranty repair station for GTCP 131-9A/B auxiliary power units since November of 2014. Ameco Beijing offers repair and overhaul services for almost 20,000 components. These include landing gears, tires and brakes, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components, avionics and electrical systems. Ameco’s capabilities on VIP and business jets cover all processes from design, engineering, certification to installation, modifications and maintenance.

In 2005 Ameco Beijing opened a new Calibration and Test Center. The 3,560 square meters building is equipped with a modern ventilation unit and has over 500 different test and calibration instruments. Aircraft painting, engineering services and training complete the company’s range of services. Ameco’s hangars and facilities are mainly located in Beijing and Chengdu: In Beijing Capital International Airport, it operates two four-bay hangars, capable of accommodating respectively four Airbus A380 aircraft for maintenance at the same time and four Boeing 747 aircraft for overhaul simultaneously, together with a one-bay hangar for Boeing 747’s overhaul and painting. The above-mentioned hangars suffice all the maintenance layover requirement of various main-route-operated aircraft types in the market at present. Ameco is also running a hangar for business jets services in Beijing.

In Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Ameco has a Boeing 757 three-bay hangar and an Airbus A321 three-bay hangar for letter checks and heavy maintenance services, meeting the layover requirement of all maintenance levels on Boeing 737NG series, Boeing 757 and Airbus family under A340 (including A340). Another painting hangar can house the aircraft as large as an Airbus A330. A hangar for line maintenance is under construction at present that could house an Airbus A330 and two Airbus A321 aircraft at the same time. The other branches of Ameco in Chongqing, Hangzhou, Tianjin and Hohhot respectively have a hangar to meet the maintenance layover requirement of Boeing 737NG series and Airbus A320 series.

In January 1999 the Aeronautical Apprentice Training Center (AATC) was transformed into the Ameco Aviation College (AAC). Based on the German dual system of vocational training, the company provides type training for 400 trainees and EASA Part 66 training for 550 trainees.
