Oliver Wyman purchased UK-based AVISA Aviation Safety Systems on September 1 to expand its European aviation technical services. The company did not disclose the acquisition price or terms.

AVISA provides aviation consultancy, training and airworthiness management services and holds EASA Part M subpart G (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization), EASA Part M subpart I (Airworthiness Review Certificate), Part 145 (maintenance) and Part 147 (training). The company, founded in 2004, will be integrated in Cavok, Oliver Wyman’s aviation services technical consulting division and will be based near London Gatwick airport. Through the acquisition, Cavok gains about 130 professionals.

Oliver Wyman purchased Cavok in 2007 to build its aviation technical service business, and then in 2015 acquired TeamSAI to further expand. In December 2016, it hired London-based David Stewart, previously ICF’s VP and global managing director aerospace and MRO, as a partner, which was a strong signal it aspired to grow its European business.

David Marcontell, Cavok’s general manager, said the company was looking for firms with “similar capabilities and credibility” to assist its European expansion. “AVISA is a perfect fit with its EASA-approved Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization designation and reputation as a highly regarded training provider and regulatory guidance adviser,” he said in a release.
