Singapore Airlines and China Southern Airlines both experienced problems with their respective A380 aircraft yesterday. An A380 operated by Singapore Airlines and flying from Singapore to Frankfurt was required to return to Singapore after one of its four engines developed a fault and had to be shut down. SIA described the problem as a “surge” involving problems with airflow around the engine and stated that it is inspecting the aircraft in consultation with Rolls-Royce.
A China Southern Airlines A380 flying from Beijing to Guangzhou turned back to Beijing when a malfunction was detected with the air pressure system in the passenger cabin.
