The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has performed the first pre-delivery test flight of the C919 aircraft in Shanghai last weekend. The aircraft is equipped with CFM LEAP engines and is pitched as a competitor to the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo family aircraft in the narrowbody market.

“This marked a successful test flight of the first C919 plane ahead of its delivery to the first customer. The flight test completed all the scheduled tasks, and the aircraft performed well and was in good condition,” COMAC said.

The first production aircraft is expected to be delivered to China Eastern Airlines in 2022.

IBA Insight has identified 360 confirmed orders for the Comac MAC C919 aircraft as of mid-May 2022. Notable customers include major Chinese lessors ABC financial leasing, ICBC Financial Leasing, and Bocomm Leasing.
