Atlas Air has received the first of four new Boeing 777-200 freighters it was expecting under a partnership with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, for which it will operate the aircraft.

John Dietrich, president and chief executive of Atlas Air Worldwide, said he was “looking forward to this partnership with MSC, the world’s largest shipping company”.

“We are delighted to see the first of our MSC-branded aircraft take to the skies and we are looking forward to start serving the market with our new air cargo solution,” said Jannie Davel, MSC’s senior vice president air cargo.

Atlas last week took delivery of a 747-8 freighter from Boeing, one of the last-ever 747s  to be sold.
