GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES), a global jet engine maintenance provider, and AirAsia India, have signed a contract covering the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet. The agreement covers maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the CFM56-5B fleet and includes leased engine support and LLP management. The first engine will be inducted into GATES in early April. In addition, GA Telesis also signed an engine LRU/accessories repair and exchange pool agreement to support the airline’s line maintenance requirements.

AirAsia India operates a fleet of 28 Airbus A320ss (including five A320 NEOs). “We are delighted to have tied up with GATES as we believe they will be good long-term partners backed by a highly responsive, technically strong team. This, coupled with a cost-effective solution provider, has helped us go with GATES,” says Vikas Agarwal, Chief Financial Officer of AirAsia India.

“The Indian subcontinent has always been a huge strategic market for GATES, and we feel extremely privileged to have been entrusted by one of the key airlines in India to perform CFM56-5B MRO work on their jet engines,” says Avinash Singh, Sr. Director – Sales & Marketing, APAC. “As Covid travel restrictions ease and aviation growth rebounds, India presents a huge potential, and we look forward to growing our position there in the future,” added Singh.

“This is a great success story for the GATES Ecosystem, pulling together the combined strength of GA Telesis in offering innovative, integrated solutions across a full spectrum of customer requirements. This is a definite win-win for AirAsia India and GAT as we begin this great partnership,” added Russ Shelton – President, Engine Strategy Group of GA Telesis.
